Our culture and society have a great impact on our fashion. Fashion deals with what we wear must be stylish whereas society, education, values and norms make culture. Inevitably, any culture has influence and control on fashion and it keeps changing with time. In the past, fashion was less influenced and segmented by global culture but as time passes we are turning towards more global fashion.

To understand fashion, the influence of culture is important to know in the fashion industry to foresee culturally and social movements. It is connected to our daily life, not only the factor of clothing and accessories but among all them, culture is most important. Our lifestyle is influenced by fashion and always influenced by cultural changes like colonialism, modernism, and art and technology evaluation.

Lifestyle, fashion and culture have an apparent interaction of shifts. It is essential to realize that living in different locations and different cultures form fashion. We need to understand in which surrounding we belong and what is important to know about fashion.

For ages, people from every profession including musician, celebrities, social media, royalty and athletes are always influenced by popular culture. Advertisement of fashion industry, movies, books; music and, social media have influence and attract the attention of people.

Furthermore, it is a form of expression ever since clothes were invented it is happening. It is also a mean to separate people into different groups even in this modern age of high ended brands distinguish people from others.

Over time a society has various fashions, and affected by many factors like gender, age, location, social class, occupation and sexual orientation. In modern world the concept of fashion trends starts with the fashion designers. They design different collections throughout the seasons on the bases of some influences like culture, celebrities, music, religion, nature, politics or so on.

In the 1960s the cultural and political upheaval of the time was reflected in the fashion. The use of accessories like Pocahontas style headbands and medallions rose by the hippie and counterculture movement. The mainstream of mod fashion was bright colored space-age geometric patterns, mod shift dresses and miniskirts with peasant-style-go boots. The development of synthetic yarns was taken place in the 1960s, which gave way to other fabrics like spandex, polyester and lycra they are still being used in the modern era.

In the 1970s, bell-bottom jeans and loose-fitting hippie clothes were popular for both men and women. Women wore peasant style dresses with jeans or skirts. Hot pants And hemline were equally popular in the decade. Embroidered dresses became popular and disco fashion of bright patterns and fitted clothes were emerged. Platform shoes were well-known that elevated the wearer.

Another fashion upheaval was seen in 1908s. Women styled themselves with heavy eyeliner in different colors, neon colors, jelly shoes tight jeans, leggings and sweatshirts whereas, menswear clothing look became popular. Power suits were very prominent to express the wealth of the wearer was very popular in men. High padded shoulders jackets were in for men and women.  Acid washed jeans, parachute pants, jean jackets, polo shirts, high top shoes and baggy blazer and athletic shoes were popular in throughout the 1980s.

In 1990s hyper colored dressing got a new way from neon colors. Long straight hair was changed from the big hair was omnipresent in 80s. Baby doll dresses and spaghetti strap slip dresses over t-shirts with thigh high stocking was trending. Women tended to pierce their navel to coincide with the belly shirts that exposed the midriff were in. To make the look taller chunky platform shoes with layers of rubber soles were all the rage.
